So here I go. I am about to embark on a journey, a trip to graduate school! While this may be a relatively normal activity for many, I will be beginning the process in my late 50's. I am taking heart from a woman I once met while singing at a luncheon for writers. She was 93 years old and had recently finished her master's degree in writing. She began college in her 50's after having raised 5 children. If she could do it, then so can I! I am packing, leaving my home of 22 years, gardens, etc. for the north shore of Boston, Beverly to be precise, to the Van Loan School at Endicott College where I will pursue a Masters degree in Interior Architecture.

There is a bit of sadness mixed in with the excitement. The flowers are in full bloom, the hillside sprinkled with wild flowers and herbs, just begging to be plucked and dried for that special tea that cures all that ails. But the flowers will not go anywhere and will be here upon my return. It is funny how one becomes so accustomed to patterns engendered over time.....especially those that are in deep connection with Nature's forces. I trust that my longtime experiences with Nature will inform my experience of design, even in a formal setting. And so I carry this goal with me as I embark on this new journey. I will share my process through this blog with those friends who might want to

know how things are going and what I might be doing and thinking. I must warn you now that I am going to include some of my thoughts about the experience. You can pass over them if too lengthy, but they are a part of me and so will be a part of the blog. Welcome to my new world!!
